The fabulous Hotel San Regis in the city center of Paris set the stage for this editorial featuring beauty looks for brides with natural, textured hair. An international team came together to create this romantic wedding shoot with rich gold tones and subtle hues of cream, abricot and pale garnet.
Kathleen Chapin, our award-winning hair stylist, is the queen of natural, textured hair and wanted to show brides that they have so many choices for their wedding day, including styles with accessories and veils.
The Low Bun – A Classic Look
Brides looking for a soft, romantic look on their wedding day, Kathleen suggests a low bun with braiding that will have the added benefit of staying in place well into night. Pair this style with a jewelled hair comb or even a hair comb of preserved flowers, to add a soft touch. Our bride Camille’s natural beauty was accentuated with a soft smokey eye and some bright colour on the lips.
This style is also easy to wear with a veil, which can be added for the ceremony and taken off for the reception.
The Dramatic Up-do
We created a second look for our bride Rama with a chic up-do that accentuated her insanely high cheek bones and matched her beautifully sleek dress. Don’t be afraid to go bolder with your makeup – our makeup artist added more pops of colour on the eyes, cheek and lip for a modern look.
Our hairstylist actually used a gold headband to accessorize and put it underneath the up-do. She recommends doing the same for the veil, making sure that the hairstyle is still in the spotlight.
To change it up, Kathleen created another look with a floral hair comb on the side of the hair for a fun, asymmetrical style.
A Bit More About Stabilized Flowers
Brides have several choices when it comes to floral hair accessories, explains our floral designer Hélène. Fresh flowers are bright and beautiful but will quickly wilt, especially in summer heat or in strong sunlight. She created hair combs of stabilized flowers for this editorial, which are naturally-preserved through a special technique that allows the flowers to last longer than fresh ones while maintaining more vivid colours than dried flowers. They can last up to 10 years and can be the perfect special touch later on for vow renewals.
Tips for Soft, Hydrated Hair on Your Wedding Day
Our hairstylist recommends that brides prepare their hair ahead of time by washing it the day before and brushing it out. She also suggests to avoid adding oily products in the hair.
