Best Locations for Photos of the Eiffel Tower in 2023

The Eiffel Tower is the most recognizable icons of Paris (and probably France) so it’s no wonder that you want to get the best shot with the Iron Lady. Luckily, you have plenty of options when it comes to finding a place to take photos of the Eiffel Tower.

Up close, far away, surrounded by nature or architecture, the possibilities are almost endless, as are the locations, but I’ll be sharing my 5 favourites below.

1.
Trocadero

Trocadero is one of the most popular places to take photos in front of the Eiffel Tower. It has sweeping views of the city, a variety of spots to pose and if you turn around and look back at it, the buildings in Trocadero have a lot of bold architecture too.

I advise getting there as early as possible (sunrise!) to avoid the crowds and get the best light.

Update 2021: Trocadero is temporarily closed as a massive renovation project is underway. I’m always checking up on this location to see what kind of possibilities we have. Feel free to get in touch to find out what we can do for your shoot.

2.
Champs de Mars

On the opposite side of the Eiffel Tower we have the sprawling lawns and gardens of Champs de Mars. I think I prefer this location to all others in the springtime, when the grass is green, and the flowers are blooming. It also has several hidden pockets that provide the perfect place for a surprise proposal with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

Just like Trocadero, it’s important to get here as early as possible to avoid the crowds. Once the summer heat kicks in, some years the grass dries out completely by the end of the summer, and any of the other 4 locations on this list are a more photogenic option.

3.
Bir Hakeim Bridge

The bridge from Inception is actually holding up a metro line that runs above the Seine river. The bridge itself is architecturally stunning and there’s also a small lookout point with the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

Once again, I recommend getting here early in the morning. It’s a popular spot for prewedding photos (aka engagement photo sessions) and fashion shoots (and joggers)!

4.
Riverbanks of the Seine

I love this location for some privacy and a dramatic view of the Eiffel Tower just across the river. There’s a little area between house boats that is perfect for a surprise proposal, followed by some champagne.

5.
Hotel or Apartment Rooftops

Paris is a relatively short city, which means that if a building has a rooftop terrace, then it probably has a view of the Eiffel Tower. Some famous hotels are the Plaza Athenee, The Pullman, Hotel Raphael, The Peninsula, the Shangri-La, the San Régis and a few others.
